🌿 About 19 Birch Lane
A Boutique Greenhouse Wedding Venue & Growing Botanical Garden Destination in Mid Coast Maine
Nestled on five acres in the heart of Mid Coast Maine in South Thomaston, 19 Birch Lane is a boutique greenhouse wedding venue thoughtfully designed around gardens, nature, and meaningful experiences. What began as a private residence has evolved into one of Maine’s most unique botanical-inspired wedding destinations — a place where curated landscapes, intimate celebrations, and a love of gardening come together.
Today, 19 Birch Lane hosts a limited number of weddings each year, allowing every couple to experience the property in a way that feels personal, intentional, and deeply connected to the surrounding gardens. At the same time, the property is continuing to grow into something even greater: a future botanical garden destination focused on seasonal beauty, immersive garden experiences, tours, and education.
🌸 Our Story
In 2008, Aric Odone purchased 19 Birch Lane, then a quiet private residence featuring a horse barn, open pastures, and rolling fields in South Thomaston, Maine. At the time, there was no vision of becoming a wedding venue or botanical destination — simply an appreciation for the beauty and peacefulness of the property.
The historic home itself carries a unique story. Originally built in the mid-1800s as a parsonage in nearby Rockland, Maine, the house was relocated to its current location in the early 1990s. Years later, Aric discovered an extraordinary connection to the property: his grandparents had once been married in that very parsonage decades earlier.
Over time, what began as a private home slowly transformed through a growing passion for gardening, landscape design, and creating spaces meant to be experienced. Inspired by the beauty of botanical gardens, timeless greenhouse structures, and immersive outdoor spaces, the property evolved naturally into what is now known as 19 Birch Lane.
Following Aric and Patti’s own wedding on the property, the vision became even clearer — to create a boutique wedding venue unlike anything else in Maine. Rather than focusing on large-scale events, the goal became creating an intimate experience centered around gardens, natural beauty, and meaningful moments.
🌿 A Boutique Wedding Venue Designed with Intention
At 19 Birch Lane, weddings are intentionally limited each year. This allows every celebration to feel relaxed, personal, and thoughtfully curated while also preserving the beauty and atmosphere of the property.
Unlike traditional venues that host multiple events every weekend, 19 Birch Lane was created to feel intimate and immersive — a place where couples and guests can slow down, wander the gardens, and truly experience the setting around them.
Every corner of the property has been carefully considered to create a seamless flow between nature and celebration, including:
A vintage greenhouse filled with natural light
An intimate pergola ceremony space beside the pond
Curated gardens and layered plantings
A pavilion designed for elegant open-air dining
Peaceful pathways and gathering spaces throughout the landscape
The result is a wedding experience that feels timeless, botanical, and deeply connected to the landscape.
🌼 The Gardens at 19 Birch Lane
The gardens are at the heart of everything we do.
Designed as a series of evolving garden rooms, the landscape at 19 Birch Lane continues to grow year after year with carefully selected plant collections, flowering shrubs, seasonal blooms, water features, and layered plantings that create beauty in every season.
From hydrangea borders and lavender gardens to quiet pond reflections and greenhouse views, every space is designed to evoke a sense of calm, discovery, and connection with nature.
The gardens are constantly changing — shaped by the seasons, new ideas, and a long-term vision of becoming a true botanical destination in Maine.
🌿 Growing Into a Botanical Garden Destination
While weddings remain an important part of 19 Birch Lane, the vision for the future extends far beyond celebrations.
19 Birch Lane is thoughtfully evolving into a botanical garden destination in Mid Coast Maine — a place where visitors can one day experience curated gardens, seasonal tours, educational workshops, plant collections, and immersive garden experiences designed to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature and landscape design.
What makes 19 Birch Lane unique is this balance between intimate celebrations and botanical experiences. Weddings are not separate from the gardens — they are woven into the landscape itself.
As the property continues to grow, so too does the vision: creating a destination centered around beauty, horticulture, gathering, and meaningful experiences.
🌸 Our Philosophy
At 19 Birch Lane, we believe gardens should do more than simply look beautiful — they should create emotion, invite exploration, and leave lasting memories.
We believe in:
Thoughtful and intentional design
Seasonal beauty and evolving landscapes
Intimate gatherings over large-scale events
Creating meaningful experiences connected to nature
Preserving beauty through a limited number of weddings each year
Every tree planted, pathway designed, and garden bed created is part of a larger vision: building a place where people come not only to celebrate, but to feel inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
